  1. WOW! Magnificent photos! I can’t believe that these horses look so healthy while grazing in the desert. Just beautiful. Incredible images.
    Thank you!

    • Cheryl,

It is confusing. I have called BLM several times and they will not return my calls. The BLM has a schedule that shows a roundup of the Onaqui herd in October.
      We’ll see….

  2. So am I understanding that the herds are owned by the government or the American people? just curious. I knew that they were doing these things but, I never realized to what extreme. I have owned horses my whole life and a mustang. I can’t believe that people think this is okay and are allowing this. Is there anyway we could stop them?
    Thanks

    • Cheryl,

Great question….The BLM position is that they have to manage the “public” land for multiple uses (cattle grazing, wild horses etc). THEY TRY AND JUSTIFY THE ROUNDUPS SAYING THE HORSES ARE STRESSED AND DON’T HAVE ENOUGH FEED AND WATER. Baloney!!! This herd is in wonderful shape and there are plenty of resources. I think the BLM just need to keep the helicopter people employed!

There are many organizations trying to stop the roundup of this herd. I think the best is the American Wild Horse Campaign (https://americanwildhorsecampaign.org/). They are working with the Salt River Wild Horse management Organization (https://saltriverwildhorsemanagementgroup.org/) to manage the herd size with PZP. Not the best solution but a good compromise….

      Keep fighting!
